The color of the opening title sequence means something. Fringe occasionally changes the color and style of its opening titles to indicate whether an episode takes place in the past, present or future, etc. The symbols before the commercial breaks spell out a word. You can find a key to the glyphs here. There is a hidden Observer in every episode.
In each episode, at least one glyph symbol is hidden within the show itself. You may notice a flower decal on a refrigerator in the lab, or a butterfly on the back of a chair, and so on.
Fringe will return in fall for a final season, Season 5, consisting of 13 episodes. NO one has said anything about the symbols inside the pictures.
Like the 2 fetuses in the apple the gree letter phi on the frog, the equalateral triangle or pyramid on the leaf. What are these? You are all wrapped up in the pictures you are missing the smaller pieces. So one of the codes was reveled and it related to the episode!!!!
I finished watching and I was so happy I had time to spell out words during commercial breaks. I was going to ask the same thing anonymous October 20th, the symbols hidden in plain sight, only seeing it for a split second, the whole thing seems like there's some sort of subliminal message tring to be put across, or it's just a good marketing idea.
Unless im missing something there may yet be another glyph and therefore character. For example on the dvd menu screen there is a leaf similar to b however the leaf curvature goes up and to the left what is it.

Hidden in each episode is a clue to some detail in the next episode. In the pilot, that clue was a rebus on a newspaper stand of a pen plus a rose. The next episode featured a character called Penrose. Episode 8 showcased a little butterfly; monarch butterflies played a pivotal role in the plot of Episode 9. Admittedly, these clues are better recognized than guessed at. It's easier to go back and find the clue after each succeeding episode has already aired than to figure out which of the many visual details in the episode hints at what's to come.

The patterns are obviously intentional as some light intensities vary between adjacent windows.
Highlight the repeating motifs. Scattered through each episode are little visual tweaks. Posters for Massive Dynamics products, the fictional company that lies near the heart of the show's conspiracies can often be found on walls and billboards in the background.
