Season 1 Season 1 Season 2. Season 1 Prodigal Son Critics Consensus Though it shows promise, Prodigal Son sidelines a spectacular Michael Sheen in favor of a more pedestrian procedural that often drifts too deeply into the grotesque.

You ask why? Because of the controversy surrounding its creator. I highly recommend you to read the article, and to find out what the controversy was all about. The show is quite crazy in its nature and centers itself around suspense and thrill.

There is always a sense of dread about the happenings in the show, and that really lends to the vibe of the show. Many fans find the criminal to be quite smart and fascinating and feel that he brings something new to the crime genre and feels fresh. Others, however, feel that it is the same old recycled stuff we have seen countless times.

I personally tend to fall in the latter category. While the concept of the show itself is really nice, it is still not as original as the fans make it out to be. Nevertheless, the show itself is quite grabbing and will keep you engaged.

Prodigal Season 2 ended on a very open note, and left most of our questions unanswered, and kept us in a lot of suspense. Would Bright stand up on his own and leave a legacy? What would his relationship with Dani be like? Those were just a few of the questions left unanswered by the show.

And they were all meant to be answered in Prodigal Son Season 3, which I can assume with quite some confidence. The new episode shows us a heart-to-heart between Negan and Maggie, and I talk about it here. Read the article to find out my thoughts on the same. Now, this is a question that is being asked by everyone, from the fans to the folks at Fox.

Is there any scope of redemption for the show? Given the performance of the second season, the show was already going downhill.

The content had gotten repetitive, and there was hardly any innovation to the episodes. Added to that was the fact that the plot itself was not very simple. In fact, the word complex might be an understatement when it comes to the plot of Prodigal Son. This led to a continued fall in the viewership and popularity for the show, and the folks at Fox were growing worried. Was this it for the show? Was it the end? Sadly, it seems that the answer is yes. This is it for Prodigal Son.

In their statement, Fox announced that there was not going to be a Prodigal Son Season 3 and that the show was canceled. The network cited poor performance and low ratings of the show as their reason for the cancelation.

The move was widely criticized by viewers and fans of the show, who had been ardently following the show for so long and were loving it. What added fuel to the fire was the fact that Fox announced the cancelation long before the season finale premiere. It has been quite interesting and holds the door open for a lot of opportunities. In all fairness, while the plot for Prodigal Son was complex and led to a lot of people dropping the show, the amazing performances by the actors made it all really worth it. Netflix had renewed The Society for a second season but that was revoked, with a source telling The Hollywood Reporter that, among other reasons, "unexpected budget increases" due to the impact of COVID had played a role.

It's especially bad news for those who were following the show because it wraps up with Malcolm stabbing his own father, the fallout of which we weren't given the opportunity to see. We don't want to give too much of it away because we're still hopeful of being able to tell that story.

But Bright stabbing Martin at the end wasn't going to make anyone's life easier, and I think our show flourishes when all of our characters face adversity. Gil and Jessica are in a good place.

There's so many places that we could jump off from the ending of this season, and that's what's so exciting for us. Interested in Digital Spy's weekly newsletter?
