Why does meredith grey get fired

The rate at which doctors lose their jobs is almost similar to the rate at which they resign. A number of doctors have decided to step out on their own terms too. Luckily, in the long-running medical drama, unemployment isn't forever. Most of the doctors who get fired get rehired quite quickly or land a job elsewhere. They are the best doctors in the world after all, and staying unemployed for too long wouldn't make sense.

While some job loss incidents have been painful, others have been understandable, given the circumstances. Meredith was fired twice, first for tampering with Derek's Alzheimer's trial and then for insurance fraud. The first time she got fired, she and Derek were trying to adopt Zola. Her dismissal almost cost them the adoption since the officer investigating their suitability as parents learned about what had transpired. During the insurance fraud case, Alex, Richard, and Andrew all tried to help her but they ended up in trouble too.

Though there was a real threat of Meredith losing her license and going to prison, she survived it all and managed to come back to work. Dahlia became disgruntled after Meredith's dismissal. She and Jo found themselves in a dilemma after Shirley Gregory, the patient they were working on, insisted on being operated on by Meredith.

Jo thus came up with the idea to video call Meredith during the surgery so that she could assist. After the surgery, Bailey found Dahlia crying and upon asking her what the problem was, she aired out her frustrations regarding Meredith's dismissal.

She explained that Meredith was the reason she came to the Grey Sloan and that she wanted to learn from her, not just watch her from a TV screen. Instead of sympathizing with her, Bailey fired her, telling her that she and Meredith had something in common now. Eliza was brought in to revamp the surgical residency program, but she ended up getting fired for a mistake that wasn't related to her job description.

After an oxygen tank explosion caused a fire at the hospital, Jackson instructed Eliza to tell the police that Stephanie was missing. However, Eliza forgot to do so since she was preoccupied with getting the patients out of the building. Though she did her best to defend herself, Bailey fired her, claiming the hospital didn't need robots who only followed protocols and couldn't make alternative decisions.

After being dismissed, she moved out of her apartment with Arizona and refused to talk to her. Leah openly admitted that she got into the surgical program easily because of Mark Sloan, who had been romantically involved with her mother. However, she had a hard time in the OR and she eventually got dismissed by Richard.

The worst thing about Leah's dismissal was that she had already heard rumors that someone was going to get fired. Worried it might be her, she began stress-eating. Her fears were confirmed when Richard called her aside and told her that she was a good doctor but not a good surgeon.

It was hard for Alex to hear what Jo had gone through, but Meredith told him that Jo had agreed to get help, because what she needed was more than the support that either of them could offer her.

They both found Meredith in a conference room with Bailey and Catherine Debbie Allen , confessing that it was really her behind the fraud, but Richard ran in just in time to tell her that he, Meredith, and Alex had all been involved, so what could she do about it?

Back at her house, Meredith told her children that she had to go take care of something very important, but she would be back — and in the meantime, Alex, Amelia, and Maggie would be there to take care of them. She went to the jail to see DeLuca, telling him that taking the fall was a stupid thing to do, and that she needed to clean up her own messes, because she stands by the decision she made to make sure her patient got care.

Owen Kevin McKidd is trapped in a massive traffic jam caused by the fog, along with a blood donor with a rare blood type who is the only one to help a patient at the hospital. After spending the end of their camping trip arguing, Jackson Jesse Williams and Maggie Kelly McCreary ended up trapped in the remaining wreckage from the earlier pile-up, and Jackson disappeared to get help. Alex Karev and Dr. Richard Weber, ran in to tell them that they were involved as well. So, how did the Chief handle it?

She fired them all! So, how will Meredith take the harsh actions against her? From the looks of the Season 16 trailer, it seems she is taking it as well as she could, considered she is spotted doing community service around Seattle at least it's better than behind bars.

Watch this extended trailer and join us when GreysAnatomy returns Sept. At the end of Season 15, Andrew DeLuca was taken to prison because he was protecting Meredith from going to jail herself. After Meredith is fired, she goes to visit him in jail to tell him how silly he was for doing this and assures him that she will clear everything up.

Hearts melted But now fans are wondering if the heartthrob will get out of jail right away or will be stuck behind bars for a while until Meredith figures things out. Either way, we hope it doesn't impact their relationship negatively.
